Cable Engineering was founded in 2014 as a supplier of cable containment products that are bespoke to the rail industry. The initial product sold was a balata strap made from a rubber based balata material but due to rising costs of the material a polyester based material was used as a replacement which is more widely available, this product named "Nybal Strap" is available through our sole stockist Thorne & Derrick .

Following on from the development of the Nybal Strap we designed a cable restraint product called "Cable Restraint Cleat" that is used on TFL projects for fixing HV cables to the existing tunnel and trackside cast iron cable hangers saving time in installation and the high costs of installing new cable containment.

In March 2024 due to the shortage of skilled Electrical Design Engineers in the UK, the business owner who is an IET Chartered Electrical Engineer with 35 years of electrical design experience on large rail and utilities industry projects has decided to offer electrical design services through Cable Engineering Ltd through which the services of his industry colleagues will be brought in to suit the clients design requirements.
